James P. Heath

James P. Heath ( born December 21, 1777 Delaware, † June 12, 1854 in Georgetown, DC ) was an American politician. Between 1833 and 1835 he represented the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

James P. Heath was born in the second year of the War of Independence in Delaware and grew up there. He enjoyed a good education. Then he served 1799-1802 in the regular army, where he held the rank of lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers. As Registrar he worked at the Court of Chancery in Annapolis (Maryland). During the British - American War he was aide - de-camp of General Levin Winder.

Politically, he was a member of the Jacksonian Group. In the congressional elections of 1832 Heath was in the fourth electoral district of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Francis Thomas on March 4, 1833. However, he suffered for his re-election bid in 1834, a defeat and retired after the March 3, 1835 from the Congress of.
