James Pickens, Jr.

James Pickens Jr. ( born October 26, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio ) is an American actor.

Life and career

Born in Cleveland, he was able to gain first experiences on stage in the New York theater scene. Later pieces followed, such as A Raisin in the Sun at the Roundabout Theatre and A Soldier 's Play alongside Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson.

After 1990 Pickens moved to the West Coast, he was able to get supporting roles in several series and smaller movie roles, until 1995, Nixon succeeded in the breakthrough. After some challenging roles in films such Gridlock'd, Bulworth and Traffic - power of the cartel mainly followed by engagements in series. Since 2005, he is seen as Richard Webber on the hit U.S. series Grey's Anatomy.

In his spare time he rides rodeo and participates as a member of the United States Team Roping regularly regular competitor.

He is married to Gina Pickens and has two children with her.
