James Provan

James Provan ( born December 19, 1936 in Glenfarg, Scotland ) is a British politician of the Conservative Party and farmer.

Life

Provan visited the Ardvreck School in Crieff and then the Oundle School in Northamptonshire. He studied agricultural science at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester. In 1965 he became president of the Agricultural Association National Farmers Union of Scotland, which he headed until 1971. From 1979 to 2004, Provan deputy in the European Parliament. Provan is married to Roweena Lewis and has three children. Since 1990 he is a member of the Rowett Research Institute, which he chaired from 1992 to 1999
