James Rachels

James Rachels (* May 30, 1941 in Columbus, Georgia, † September 5, 2003 in Birmingham, Alabama) was an American moral philosopher at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

His positions included a moral obligation to vegetarianism and animal rights position, affirmative action, euthanasia and the idea that parents can not justify to prefer their own children, trade-offs against other children. Meta-ethical designated Rachel 's position as " präferenzutilitaristisch ".
