James Ramsay (Australian governor)

Sir James Maxwell Ramsay KCMG KCVO CBE DSC ( born August 27, 1916 in Hobart, Tasmania; † 1 May 1986 as Broadbeach, Queensland) was an Australian soldier and politician.

Life

He graduated in 1933, the Royal Australian Naval College at Jervis Bay. He went through an excellent Marinie career and served during the Second World War on British and Australian ships in the Indian, Atlantic and Pacific oceans. He reached the rank of commodore.

From 1974 to 1977 he was deputy governor of Western Australia. 22 April 1977 until 21 July 1985 he was Governor of Queensland.
