James Russell Wiggins

James Russell Wiggins ( born December 4, 1903 in Luverne, Rock County, Minnesota, † November 19, 2000 in Ellsworth, Maine ) was an American journalist, editor, and diplomat.

Biography

Wiggins was first a journalist and editor in 1947 first, 1955 Executive Editor and publisher in 1960 and executive vice chairman of the Washington Post, the largest daily newspaper in the United States.

The end of September 1968, he resigned from this post after he had been appointed by U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson to the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. This post he held during the last months of the Johnson administration until 1969.
