James Thomson (architect)

James Thomson ( * 1852 in Edinburgh, † 1927 in Dundee) was a Scottish engineer and architect.

After completing his education in Edinburgh, he moved to Dundee. There he was appointed in 1906 to the city architect and was responsible for the construction of several public buildings, such as the Caird Hall, Blackness Library ( 1906), and Ward Road Museum ( 1911). His proposal of a bypass for the town was ahead of his time. His plan for a waterfront with a market hall and a roof garden at that time was not realized. In 1924 he sat down to rest.
