James Toseland

James Michael Toseland ( born October 5, 1980 in Kiveton Park, Sheffield, England) is a former British motorcycle racer.

Career

As a 17 -year-old he came in 1998 in the Supersport World Series as a team -mate of Michaël Paquay the official Castrol Honda factory team. In the second race of the season in Monza, Italy, the entire team was struck by a heavy blow. First, James Toseland crashed Paquay broke in the first free practice session one foot, and in the second free practice session on Saturday fatal.

From 2001 to 2007, James Toseland started first on Ducati and later on Honda in the Superbike World Championship. In 2004, he won his first world title in the Ducati factory team, followed in 2007 by the Dutch team Hannspree Ten Kate Honda, his second title.

In the 2008/2009 season Toseland rode for the Yamaha Tech 3 team in the MotoGP class of the Motorcycle World Championship.

In the 2010 season he moved back to the Yamaha sterile Garda team in the Superbike World Championship in 2010 and sparked Ben Spies from there.

In October 2010, announced Toseland that he will ride in the Superbike World Championship in 2011 on the side of Ayrton Badovini in the factory-backed BMW Motorrad Italia team.

In a heavy crash during testing at Motorland Aragon to Toseland broke his right wrist in March 2011. Due to the permanent damage Toseland finished in September 2011 his active career as a motorcycle racer.

Private

Toseland is very musical, is considered talented pianist and is also a singer in a band. Since 1 September 2012, he is married to singer Katie Melua.
