James V. Buckley

James Vincent Buckley ( born May 15, 1894 Saginaw County, Michigan; † 30 July 1954 in Hammond, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1949 and 1951 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

James Buckley was born on a farm in Michigan. He attended the common schools and then moved to Chicago where he worked in the automotive industry. Later he worked in the local Cook County and Lake County in Indiana in the real estate business and in the construction industry. During the Second World War he worked in the defense industry. He was also active in the trade union movement and was president of a local union in the automotive industry, the Local Union 714

Politically, Buckley was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1948 he was in the fourth electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded Martin Gorski took up on January 3, 1949, who joined in the fifth district. Since he has not been confirmed in 1950, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1951. This was marked by the events of the Cold War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives James Buckley worked in Calumet City in Immibilienbranche and construction. He died on July 30, 1954 in Hammond and was buried in Gary.
