James William Bryan

James William Bryan ( born June 9, 1853 at Bourbon County, Kentucky, † 1903) was an American politician. Between 1887 and 1891 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Kentucky.

Career

In 1873, James Bryan graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College. After a subsequent law degree in 1875 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he began to practice in this profession. He worked in a law firm, among others, the former governor and former U.S. Senator John W. Stevenson. Later he became a member of the law firm Bryan & O'Hara. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. In the presidential election of 1880 he was one of the democratic electors. In 1885 and 1886 he was a member of the Senate from Kentucky.

1887 Bryan was elected to the side of Simon Bolivar Buckner for Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky. This post he held 1887-1891. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he is no longer politically have appeared. Since 1880 he was married to Virginia Ellis Martin. He died in 1903.
