James Wisniewski

James Wisniewski ( born February 21, 1984 in Canton, Michigan ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since June 2011 at the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Wisniewski began his career in 2000 in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League with the Plymouth Whalers. He was already in his first season at the best defenders on the team. So he scored in 72 games, which he completed, 42 points scorer. These points yield he was able to increase continuously in the following years. Thus he attracted the interest of some NHL scouts up. Finally, there were the leaders of the Chicago Blackhawks, who selected him during the NHL Entry Draft in 2002 in the fourth round at a total of 156 positions. The right-handed shooter was then two years with the Plymouth Whalers, before the American Hockey League with the Norfolk Admirals, the farm team of the Chicago Blackhawks, joined in the summer of 2004. His last year in the OHL was also his best. In the 59 games in which he was used, he scored 80 points.

His first year in the AHL for him was seen sporting positive. The Admirals, he showed consistent and good, which was also reflected in its statistics. Finally, the Blackhawks recognized his talent and nominated him during the 2005/ 06 season for the first time in the squad of NHL teams. Wisniewski initially completed 19 games. After another ten missions in the AHL with the Admirals, he was able to prevail in the NHL in the 2006 / 07 and then became part of the tribe squad of the Chicago Blackhawks.

In the 2009/10 season he played for the Anaheim Ducks, before he was released to the New York Islanders in the end of July 2010. On 28 December 2010, the New York Islanders him transferred for two draft picks to the Montreal Canadiens. On 29 June 2011 the Habs Wisniewski's transfer rights transferred - Two days before he would become a free agent - in exchange for a seventh -round choice of law in the NHL Entry Draft in 2012 to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Shortly before the start of the free agent period, Wisniewski agreed on 1 July 2011 at a contract for six years with the Blue Jackets.

Internationally

2008 James Wisniewski was the first time in the squad of the U.S. national team, with which he participated in the World Championships in Canada in the same year. There he failed the Team USA in the quarter-finals with a 2:3 defeat against Finland. In the junior level he had already participated with the U.S. selection of the Junior World Championships in 2003 and 2004. After a fourth place finish in 2003, the team won by Wisniewski in the following year by a narrow 4-3 victory over arch-rivals Canada the gold medal
