Jamie Rivers

Jamie Rivers ( born March 16, 1975 in Ottawa, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach. His brother Shawn was also a professional hockey player.

Career

Jamie Rivers began his career as a hockey player in his Canadian home at the Sudbury Wolves, for by 1995 he was active from 1991 in the junior league Ontario Hockey League. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 in the third round than a total of 63 players from the St. Louis Blues. For the team from Missouri played the defender from 1995 to 1999, where he mainly for their farm team, the Worcester IceCats in the American Hockey League was used and in the following two years had a regular place in the NHL team in the first two years. From 1999 to 2002 he was ever a year for the NHL teams of the New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins on the ice.

The 2002/03 season spent Rivers at the Florida Panthers of the NHL, played for the team but only once and ran throughout the remaining playing time for their AHL farm team San Antonio Rampage. In the 2003 /04 season, the Canadians won a regular place in the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL. After he had spent the following season in which the NHL season was canceled because of a lockout system, the Hershey Bears in the AHL, he returned to the beginning of the 2005/06 season to the Red Wings back, but changed within the game time to their League rival Phoenix Coyotes. The season 2006/ 07 graduated from the Junior World Champion in 1995 with his former club St. Louis Blues, for which he just as often was used as for their AHL farm team Peoria Rivermen.

In the 2007 /08 season the links Sagittarius was the first time in Europe under contract and prepared for the HK Spartak Moscow of the Russian Superleague three goals in 23 games before. For the following season, he returned to America, where he received a leading role in defending Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves as team captain. After one season at HC Ambri -Piotta in the Swiss National League A, the longtime NHL players signed for the 2010/11 season a contract with the Croatian traditional club KHL Medveščak Zagreb Erste Bank Hockey League. Following this season the defender ended his active career. For the 2013/14 season, he was named head coach of the newly formed St. Charles Churchill from the Central Hockey League.

Internationally

For Canada Rivers took part in the Junior World Cup in 1995, when he became world champion with his team. For this success he contributed three goals and three assists in seven games.
