Jamie Salé

Jamie Salé (* April 21, 1977, in Calgary, Alberta ) is a former Canadian figure skater who started in pair skating.

Early career

Jamie Salé first emerged as individual runners. Simultaneously, she launched later in pair skating with Jason Turner. With him, she was also 12 at the Olympic Winter Games 1994. However, the couple separated in August of the same year. Salé was then recaptured individual runners, but often suffered from injuries.

Return to the pair of running

Jamie Salé already tried 1996 pairs figure skating with David Pelletier in the summer. However, this test did not result in figure skating partnership. Only in 1998 they became a figure skating couple, on the advice of the trainer Richard Gault here. In 2000, Jamie Salé and David Pelletier Fourth World Championship and the following year in Vancouver world champion. At the 2002 Winter Olympics they were together with Jelena Bereschnaja and Anton Sikharulidze Olympic champion. They had been initially seen as second. After it became known that the French adjudicator was set at the rating under pressure and therefore voted for the Russian pair, them the gold medal was awarded retrospectively.

The judge scandal of Salt Lake City led in subsequent years to an entirely new evaluation system.

After Salt Lake City

After the 2002 Winter Olympics Jamie Salé and David Pelletier were professionals and worked with Stars on Ice. They married on 30 December 2005. During the 2006 Winter Olympics she also worked as commentators. Salé is athlete ambassador of development organization Right to Play.
