Jamill Kelly

Jamill Kelly ( born October 25, 1977 in Atwater, California) is an American professional wrestler. He won a silver medal in free style at lightweight at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

Career

Jamill Kelly grew up in Atwater, where he attended a high school. In this high school, he also learned the wrestling ( free style ). As a high- school wrestler him glückten have had little success. His best finish of this period was a 4th place at featherweight at the high school championships of the State of California. Then visited Jamill Kelly the Oklahoma State University. He came here in Stillwater in the hands of the former Olympic champion John Smith ( wrestler ), who worked there as a coach. 2001 Jamill Kelly American students master was (NCAA champion ) featherweight, came at the Sunkist Kids Open to 2nd place and finished in USA Championship 3rd place. After he had been successful in qualifying for the Pan American Championships, he went with these, which took place in Santo Domingo, featherweight at the start. He is number one 2nd place behind the Cuban Carlos Julian Ortiz Castillo.

2002 Jamill Kelly American vice-champion in the lightweight and came in the excretion for the World Cup on the 3rd place.

In 2003, he came at the U.S. Championships Lightweight only to 5th place, but won in the excretion for the World Cup ahead of Chris Bono and Doug Schwab. It was first used then at the Pan American Games and reached there behind Serguet Rondon Pedroso of Cuba and before Edison Hurtado Lerma from Colombia to 2nd place. In the subsequent World Cup in New York City, he won the lightweight in his first fight on Ramesh Kumar from India, but then succumbed again Serguet Rondon Pedroso, reaching only 28th place.

2004 Jamill Kelly prevailed at the U.S. Olympic excretion against Jared Lawrence, whom he defeated twice in three fights. At the Olympic Games in Athens, where he started at lightweight, he showed then, what is in it and won with wins over Ruslan Bodisteanu, Moldova, Elman Asgarow from Azerbaijan and the high favorites Machatsch Murtasalijew from Russia and a defeat against Elbrus Tedejew from the Ukraine, the silver medal.

He had also founded in 2001 the Cowboy Wrestling Club, where he worked as a wrestler trainer. Since 2006 he has been an assistant coach for wrestling at Harvard University.
