Jamiroquai

Jamiroquai is an internationally successful British acid jazz band. The name Jamiroquai is composed of Jam ( for the music that make Jamiroquai ) and iroquais for the tribe of the Iroquois, identified with the philosophy of the band leader Jay Kay himself.

Band History

Jamiroquai originated in the late 1980s as part of the acid jazz movement in London after Jay Kay's application had failed as a singer of the Brand New Heavies.

Jamiroquai 's first single When You Gonna Learn? was published in October 1992 on the independent label " Acid Jazz ". Their first album, Emergency on Planet Earth was published in 1993 ( in second publishing) to Sony, undertook the Jamiroquai for eight albums.

In autumn 1994, the band put the second record, The Return of the Space Cowboy by the Top Ten hit Stillness In Time.

The third album Travelling Without Moving in 1996 brought out the big chart successes Virtual Insanity and Cosmic Girl with whom Jamiroquai asserted itself on the U.S. market. The video for Virtual Insanity won the awards for Best Video, Best Visual Effects, Best Screenplay and Breakthrough Video at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The hit single from the fourth album Deeper Underground Synkronized was already in 1998 a part of the soundtrack to the 1998 remake of Godzilla. With Canned Heat Jamiroquai had another hit on this album, it's different than the early records no longer so clearly attributable to the Acid Jazz.

The fifth album A Funk Odyssey is strongly influenced by disco influences. The album's title is inspired by the Stanley Kubrick film 2001: A Space Odyssey on. The single from this album, Little L, in many countries was a chart success.

Appeared in 2005 Jamiroquai Dynamite sixth album with the singles Feels Just Like It Should, Seven Days in Sunny June and (Do not) Give Hate a Chance.

In 2006, the band to Sony subsidiary Columbia Records. For the Christmas season was a greatest hits album on the market. On 25 April 2007 she broke up officially by their record company.

On 29 October 2010, the seventh album by the band appeared with the title Rock Dust Light Star by the label Mercury Records. As a preliminary single releases of the song White Knuckle Ride appeared.
