Jamison Valley

The Jamison Valley ( Jamison Valley ) is part of the Coxs River Canyon in the Blue Mountains in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is located a few kilometers south of Katoomba, the main town of the Blue Mountains.

The valley was South Wales to Sir John Jamison (1776-1844) a well-known landowner and physician designated by Lachlan Macquarie, the Governor of the then British colony of New. In 1815, Jamison and Macquarie had taken a trip to the Blue Mountains, while also seen the valley. In 1836 also the British naturalist Charles Darwin visited the valley and was impressed by its beauty.

In a north-south direction, the valley extends over 12 kilometers in east-west direction for about 10 kilometers. The valley is predominantly covered with eucalyptus forests. In some corners ( near water bodies) there is also temperate rain forest. The valley is a popular destination for hikers and camping tourists.
