Jan Bochenek
January Bochenek ( born September 20, 1931 in Wołczkowo at Stanisławów, † November 2, 2011 in Łódź) was a Polish weightlifter.
Career
January Bochenek grew up in Warsaw and came as a teenager with weight-lifting. After being drafted into the army, he made good progress and soon launched at the Polish Championships. He was a member of Legia Warsaw and was trained by Klemens Roguski and August Dziedzic. While the Polish weightlifting at the beginning of the 1950s, virtually non-existent, under the then political system soon so good conditions were created that Polish weightlifters within 5 years reached the advanced world class. From this system, Jan Bochenek benefited greatly, because in 1956 he won the European Championships in Helsinki a medal in the middleweight division. By 1962, he belonged to the world top middleweight and light weight.
January Bochenek was an officer in the Polish armed forces.
