Jan du Plessis

Jan du Plessis ( born January 22, 1954 in Cape Town ) is a South African manager.

Life

After high school in Cape du Plessis studied 1973-1977 at the University of Stellenbosch Legal and Financial Sciences and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce degree. After his studies he worked for the company South African Rembrandt Group as an employee; he then joined the company Richemont. From 1990 to 1995 he worked for the British company Rothmans International, the 1999 British American Tobacco merged, active. Since March 2009 du Plessis is chairman of the company Rio Tinto and also a non-executive director of Marks & Spencer

Du Plessis has adopted British citizenship in addition to his South African citizenship. He is married, has three children and lives with his family in Buckinghamshire. He plays golf and skiing.
