Jan et Joël Martel

The twins Jan and Joël Martel ( born March 5, 1896 in Nantes, France, † 1966) was a sculptor, designer and interior designer.

Her work ranges from sculptures, monuments and fountains in the Art Deco style or Cubism, to home decorations for villas in the twenties. Both shared a studio and created their work together. Was also signed along with MARTEL. In addition to participation in exhibitions at the Salon des Independants, the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries in Paris, the Exposition internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris in 1925, they designed in 1932 as a memorial to Claude Debussy.

1924-1926 built by the French architect Robert Mallet -Stevens for the brothers a studio - house ( 10 Rue Mallet -Stevens, Paris, 16th arrondissement ). The common studio was on the ground floor. Even today, there are many of her works in the villa, which is open to the annual Heritage Day for visitors. Numerous bronze sculptures are still traded at auctions.
