Jan Frans Vonck

Jan Frans Vonck ( born November 29, 1743 Baardegem; † December 1, 1792 in Rijsel ) was a lawyer and a leader of the Brabant Revolution 1789-1790.

At the end of this revolution was on 11 January 1790, the declaration of independence of the southern Netherlands as Etats Unis belgiques (United Belgian States). Vonck initiated while the fraction of Vonckisten. These were inspired by the French Revolution and called for the abolition of feudal privileges based on structure in favor of a centralized structure.

In the Brabant Revolution Vonck collaborated with Hendrik Van der Noot and his party of extras. However, during the Revolution, Hendrik Van der Noot became the opponent Voncks because Van der Noot aimed at the restoration of the old privileges.
