Jan Fries

January Fries is a German occultist, Neoschamane, natural and rune mage and author of several books.

January Fries has the concept of Freistilschamanismus coined that describes a form of magic, emphasizes the trance and close to nature, but is - established similar to the chaos magic in the individual experience - instead of roots in a shamanic tradition. He cites as his major influences the Zos Kia Cultus, Maat Magick, Kaula Tantra, the Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Daoism.

According to Fries pass the basic exercises of magical practice in imagination and visualization. The ability to vision and trance are to be developed and the practice of Sigillenmagie, automatic writing, dealing with runes and mandalas and the shamanistic summon nature and animal spirits are the focus. New in his work include the detailed introduction to the practice of Schütteltrancen ( trances and possession disorders associated with physical wavering or trembling or be brought about by this one), the design of new states of consciousness and innovative practice of runes, Ogham and Yijing Divination.
