Jan Gonda

January Gonda ( born April 14, 1905 in Gouda, † July 28, 1991 in Utrecht ) was a Dutch Orientalist and scholar of religion.

Gonda was one of the editors of the Handbook of Oriental Studies ( Handbook of Oriental Studies) and provided input for the book series The religions of mankind in the volumes of older Veda and Hinduism, as well as the younger Hinduism. He taught at the University of Utrecht.
