Jan Guillou

Oscar Sverre Lucien Henri Guillou January ( born January 17, 1944 in Södertälje ) is a Swedish journalist and novelist.

January Guillou was internationally known primarily for his espionage thriller about the Swedish secret agents Count Carl Hamilton aka Coq Rouge.

Life

January Guillou has been active since 1966 as a journalist for newspapers, magazines and television. His literary career began in the seventies. So far he has published over 30 books ( including fiction, documentaries and controversial books). In addition, he has also written plays and television dramas.

In 1973 he published and his colleague Peter Bratt in the weekly magazine Folket i picture - cultural front an article about illegal activities at the Swedish secret service Informationsbyrån, who had accumulated a vast collection of data on politically active individuals and organizations with the help of the Swedish Social Democrats. Publish in which he revealed the cooperation of the neutral Sweden with the Americans, he was sentenced to a ten-month prison sentence for espionage, of which he served five months in solitary confinement.
