Jan Klapáč

January Klapáč ( born February 27, 1941 in Prague ) is a former Czechoslovak National Ice Hockey player who played 14 years for ASD Dukla Jihlava in the top division of Czechoslovakia, the first league and the national team of Czechoslovakia in 1972 world champion and one each silver - and won a bronze medal at the Winter Olympics.

Career

Jan Klapáč began his career with Dynamo Karlovy Vary and debuted at the age of 16 years for Dynamo in the top division of Czechoslovakia. In 1961 he moved due to his military service for Dukla Jihlava ASD and played until 1975 for this club in the top division of Czechoslovakia. With Dukla he was Czechoslovakian series champion, before moving to Škoda Plzeň TJ mid-1970s. In all, he scored 185 goals in 453 league games.

With the Czechoslovak national Klapáč took 1964-1973 to some almost all international tournaments and won in 1968 at the Olympic Winter Games, the silver medal, which is also valid as Vice World Champion title. Four years later, at the World Championships in 1972, he was with the national champions. He scored in 10 World Cup matches, nine goals and six assists.

Both Dukla Jihlava, as well as in the national team he played mostly with the brothers Jaroslav Holik and Jiří in a row. Overall, January Klapáč achieved in 110 international matches 56 goals for the Czechoslovakia.
