Ján Kozák (footballer born 1954)

Ján Kozák senior ( born April 17, 1954 in Matejovce nad Hornádom, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czechoslovak football player and current Slovakian football coach.

Playing career

Ján Kozák played from 1969 to 1974 for Lokomotíva Spišska Nová Ves. This year, the attacking midfielder joined Lokomotíva Košice. There he was in 1977 and 1979 Czechoslovak Cup winner. In 1980 he was engaged by Dukla Prague, for whom he played for two years and in 1981 won the cup in 1982 and the championship. Then he played until his retirement in late 1986 again for Lokomotíva Košice.

1981 Ján Kozák was elected Czechoslovak Footballer of the Year.

Between 1976 and 1984 he played 55 times for the Czechoslovak national team, scoring nine goals. Kozák took part in the European Championship 1980. For the 1982 World Cup he was in the squad but did not play.

Coaching career

Between July 2005 and January 2010 worked Ján Kozák, whose son Ján Kozák is junior professional football player, coach of the Slovakian first division club MFK Košice. In April 2012 he returned to the dugout this association before following the call of the national football association in July 2013 and the Slovakian national team took over.
