The Academy Krakow (Polish:. Academy of Fine Pieknych in Jana Matejki in Krakow ) is an art school, first founded in 1818 as a subdivision of the Jagiellonian University. The name in the years 1818-1873 was school for drawing and painting (Polish: SzkoĹ Rysunku i Malarstwa ). As of 1873, the school acted as an autonomous institution under the direction of famous Polish painter Jan Matejko.

History

The college was founded in 1818 as a subdivision of the Jagiellonian University. In 1873 it came to the separation of the University of Krakow. The first rector in 1873 was the Polish painter Jan Matejko. In 1950, after the Second World War first two art schools in Krakow the combined later. 1979 Jan Matejko was the patron of the school.

The high school building

The main building was built in the years 1879-1880 by the Polish architect Maciej Moraczewski.
