Jan Mulder (politician)

Jan Mulder ( born October 3, 1943 in Diever ) is a Dutch politician of the Volkspartij voor de Vrijheid Democracy (VVD ) and Member of the European Parliament.

Mulder finished his education in 1970 as an agricultural engineer and was followed up in 1975 in Kenya as an expert and later as a senior expert for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations operates. 1975-1976 was Mulder official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague, 1976-1994 official of the European Commission in Brussels. 1977 to 1988 he was chairman of the local branch Brussels his party. In the European elections in 1994 Mulder was first elected to the European Parliament and confirmed at the elections of 1999 and 2004. Like all VVD MPs he was a member of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.

In the European elections in the Netherlands in 2009 missed Mulder re- enter parliament. However, he moved in June 2010 after for Jeanine Hennis -Plasschaert, which was eliminated by the Dutch 2010 general election by the European Parliament. Currently, Mulder member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs. Furthermore, Mulder member of the Spinelli Group.
