Jan Simonsen

January Simonsen ( born March 3, 1953 in Stavanger ) is a former Norwegian politician. He was from 1989 to 2005 a member of the Norwegian Parliament, the Storting. Simonsen was elected for the Progress Party, but he was expelled from the party in the fall of 2001. In 2002, he joined the anti-immigrant party micro Democrats. In 2003, he was criticized when he proposed George W. Bush and Tony Blair because of their Iraq policy for the Nobel Peace Prize.

January Simonsen studied social science and history at the district high school in Rogaland (now University of Stavanger ). He is unmarried and currently works as a freelance journalist and author.
