Jan Smit (singer)

January Smit, actually Hendricus Johannes Maria Smit, ( born December 31, 1985 in Volendam ) is a Dutch singer.

Work

Smit January 1997 nationwide through his number 1 hit Ik zing dit lied voor jou avenues ("I sing this song for you alone "), known then under the name Jantje Smit. Except in the Netherlands in January Smit is also successful in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and France. In Germany, eleven albums have now been released. In 2001, Smit received the export price as bestselling Dutch actor abroad. In the Netherlands, he received several awards, including the Golden Televizier ring for his own real-life soap, which can be seen also in Germany. Currently running the second series of Soap Gewoon January Smit ( " Easy January Smit "). It opened on 16 March 2006 his own fashion shop in Volendam with the name J-Style, which he, however, closed for lack of sales in 2011. His manager Jaap Buijs announced that all the clothes can still be bought online and in all C & A stores.

His early works stylistically reminiscent of the Heintje, its present, however, more like that of Roger Whittaker. He also appeared once as Marika Rokk - impersonator.

Social Commitment

As part of its social commitment, committed, Jan Smit in 2013 the first Dutch singer of his age group across borders for the German Cancer Aid in the ZDF charity gala " Willkommen bei Carmen Nebel at which a donations of over 2.6 million euros. Smit came here on a duet with the living in the Federal Republic of Irish- American singer Maite Kelly, acting as an ambassador, founded by the doctor Mildred Scheel German Cancer Aid against the People's disease.
