Jan Urban

Jan Urban ( born May 14, 1962 in Jaworzno ) is a Polish football coach and former football player. He also holds Spanish nationality.

Playing career

Association

Jan Urban began his career as a striker in Poland, where he played for the clubs Zagłębie Sosnowiec and Zabrze Gornik.

In 1989 he moved to the Spanish Primera División to CA Osasuna and played later also at Real Valladolid and Toledo CD. He is one of the few Polish football players who have established themselves in Spain.

Its active football career he had then finish off with VfB Oldenburg and Gornik Zabrze at.

National

Jan Urban played 57 A- international matches for the Polish national football team and participated in the 1986 World Cup.

Coaching career

Jan Urban was for years youth and assistant coach at the Spanish first division club Osasuna. On 3 June 2007, he went to his first engagement in the Polish Ekstraklasa with Legia Warsaw. After his contract was there disbanded in the spring of 2010, he took over on 29 October 2010 the Upper Silesian first division side Polonia Bytom. His contract there lasted until the end of season 2010/11, but Urban was released in December 2010. From March 2011 to October 2011 he was coach of Zagłębie Lubin. End of May 2012, he joined Legia Warsaw in the footsteps of Maciej Skorża.
