Jan V of Zator

John V of Zator ( Johann / V of Zator -Teschen, Hanus of Zator, according to other Census sometimes John IV of Zator, * 1455, † September 17, 1513 ) was from 1468 until his death in 1513 Duke of Zator, which he sold in 1494 to the Polish king Johann Albrecht.

Life

John V came from the Teschen branch of the Silesian Piast dynasty. His parents were Wenceslas I and his wife Maria originating from Sewerien Kopczowska ( † after 1468 ). Between 1475 and 1477 he married Barbara, daughter of the Duke of Teschen Boleslaw II, previously with the Duke Balthasar von Sagan. had been married. The marriage remained childless.

After his father's death in 1465 inherited John V and his older brothers Casimir II, Wenceslas II and the younger brother of Władysław the Duchy Zator they managed first together. In 1474 they divided it into two parts, the boundary was the Skawa. The two older brothers received the eastern part, while the younger brothers Johann V. and Wladislaus the western part has been assigned.
