Jan Václav Voříšek

Jan Václav Voříšek (Jan Hugo Worzischek; born May 11, 1791 in Vamberk ( Eastern Bohemia ); † November 19, 1825 in Vienna) was a Czech- Austrian composer, pianist and organist.

Life

Was by his father, the teacher, choir director and organist Jan Voříšek came early into contact with music and received from childhood piano lessons. According to his own statement he wrote his first compositions than ten years; In 1809 he composed his first major work - Rekviem ( lost). From 1810 to 1813, he studied at the University of Prague. In 1804 (possibly until 1805 ), he was briefly a pupil of Vaclav Tomasek January.

At the age of 22, he moved to Vienna, where he studied law and piano lessons from Johann Nepomuk Hummel took in the years 1813-1816. He was so successful that he Hummel gave all his students as he left for Stuttgart. In Vienna V. looked eagerly in different Dilettantengesellschaften that were a unwegdenkbares phenomenon of Viennese musical life of the time. ( They met at the house of Prof. Zizius ', in the salon of well-known lawyers and family of musicians Sonnleithner, in the house of Privy Councillor Raphael Kiesewetter at first historic concerts, etc.). The Friends Voříšek 's was quite different from the Schubert and there is no evidence on closer contacts of these two artists.

In 1821 he finished his studies and took a short time ( and, as usual, free for one year ) an official post as Hofkriegsrat to; In 1822 he was finally appointed court organist in Vienna.

On November 19, 1825, he died of pulmonary tuberculosis. He was on the Währinger Cemetery, since 1925 Franz Schubert Park, buried. Franz Schubert ( 1828) and Ludwig van Beethoven ( 1827) have been buried in the same cemetery.
