Jan van Beveren ( born March 5, 1948 in Amsterdam, † June 26, 2011 in Houston, Texas, United States) was a Dutch football goalkeeper. He was goalkeeper of the Dutch national team. Three times he was Dutch football Champions, two Cup Winners 'Cup once and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.

Club career

Van Beveren grew up as the son of Wil van Beveren on athletes in Amsterdam Zuid. When he was ten years old, the family moved to Emmen, where he started to play football game in the youth of the FC Emmen. The age of 15 he was employed in the first team of the club. In 1965 he moved to Ehrendivisionär Sparta Rotterdam, with whom he won the KNVB Cup in the very first season and took in the following season in the European Cup. In his time at Sparta also dropped his debut in the national team. Until 1970 he remained in Rotterdam, he went to PSV Eindhoven for whom he was in 291 games between the posts. In his ten years in Eindhoven he was champion in 1975 and 1978, in 1976 he won the Double in 1978 and also the UEFA Cup. In 1980 he emigrated to the USA and played several years in the North American Soccer League with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, until the club was relocated to Minnesota. With a playing time with the Dallas Sidekicks he left his career in 1985 bar. He remained in the United States, where he made ​​his own with a stamp trade and at the same time worked as a goalkeeper coach for various clubs.

National

As a 19 year old Van Beveren announced on November 29, 1967 his debut in the Dutch elftal. Bond coach Georg Kessler left him in De Kuip in a 3-1 victory against the Soviet Union the full season in goal. In the following years he came to regular operations in the national team; also in qualifying for the European Championship 1972, he was regularly used, among other things, against the East German selection, thanks to a goal from Peter Ducke won the first leg 1-0 in Dresden and in the return match in Rotterdam barely 2:3 - Eberhard Bird overcame van Beveren twice - defeated. Despite the success with PSV he came after 1973 only three times for use and was not part of the Netherlands squad also at the World Championships in Germany and Argentina.
