Jan Van der Roost
Jan Frans Joseph Van der Roost ( born March 1, 1956 in Duffel, Belgium) is a Belgian composer and conductor in the field of brass music.
He studied the subjects trombone, music history and music education at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven and graduated with a diploma in composition from which he studied besides conducting at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, Belgium.
Jan Van der Roost teaches at the Lemmens - Institut, is a conductor and a visiting professor at Shobi Institute of Music in Tokyo and at the University of Arts in Nagoya, Japan. He composes for concert band, wind quartet, choir, piano, guitar, string orchestra and symphony orchestra.
