Jan Werner (athlete)

January Werner ( born July 25, 1946 in Brzeziny in powiat Wielunski, Poland ) is a former Polish athlete. At a height of 1.90 m his competition weight was 84 kg.

Career

His first major international competition contested Jan Werner at the European Championships in Budapest in 1966. In the 200 -meter run, he was fourth in 21.1 s. In the Polish 4 x 400 - meter relay, he ran the first lap in second was Edmund Borowski, then Stanisław Grędziński and finally ran Andrzej Badeński. His last major appearance was with Jan Werner at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. In the semi-finals of the individual competition Jan Werner presented with 45.44 s on his personal best and qualified for the final. There he was in 45.68 s eighth and last. For a medal he would have beaten his personal best by a further half second. In the Polish 4 x 400 - meter relay with Jan Werner were new people.
