Jan z Lublina

Jan of Lublina (also: Joannis de Lublin, Lublin John de, * 1490 in Lublin, † 1550 in Krasnik ) was a Polish organist, choirmaster and composer.

Jan von Lublin was as canon Member of the Order of Augustinian Canons in Krasnik, where he worked as an organist, choir director and music teacher. Between 1537 and 1548 he wrote the Tabulatura Jana z Lublina. In the tablature he collected alongside his own works, the organ works by contemporary Polish, German and Italian masters. It is regarded as a central source for the history of Polish and German organ music and is 520 pages with the most extensive organ tablature of their time. It includes, inter alia, Compositions by Bianchini, Girolamo Cavazzoni, Heinrich Finck, Clement Janequin, Josquin Desprez, Louis Senfl, Thomas Stoltzer, Philippe Verdelot and Mikołaj z Krakowa.
