Jan Zaveck

Dejan Zavec ( born March 13, 1976 in Ptuj, Lower Styria region ) is a living in Germany, Slovenian professional boxer and former IBF welterweight champion. He stands at sporting events Steinforth under contract.

As an amateur, he played 205 fights, of which he won 171 and 19 draw boxed. He was nine times Slovenian champion and won several international tournaments, including the 10th International Chemnitz boxing tournament by final victory against the Swiss Yves Studer. In 1998, he failed to qualify for the European Championship, by a 1:6 point defeat against multiple German champion Enrico Thormann. In 2000, he lost the chemistry Cup in Hall against the Germans Steven Küchler.

In March 2003, he moved to the pros and won to December 2009, four Intercontinental title, was twice International German Champion and won the European title.

On 12 June 2007 ended his fight against the Argentinian Jorge Miranda without judgment, as Zavec had hurt and the ring doctor ended the duel. However, in a rematch on 19 June 2009, he was able to Miranda by KO defeat in round 12.

He suffered his first defeat 29 November 2008 in the fight for the European title against Poland Rafał Jackiewicz, as he very scarce and controversial lost on points.

On 11 December 2009 he became the first Slovenian boxing champion in history when he the reigning IBF champion Isaac Hlatshwayo technical knockout defeated in round 3 and thus secured its title. This he defended four months later by technical knockout in round 12 on the Argentine Rodolfo Martinez.

On September 4, 2010, he defended his title successfully points victory against his old rival Rafal Jackiewicz, against whom he had in 2008 suffered his only defeat so far. For Jackiewicz, this meant the first defeat for nearly five years.

On 18 February 2011, he defended his title by knockout win in the fifth round of the US- American Paul Delgado. In his fourth title defense September 3, 2011 against Andre Berto, when he first punched in the United States, he lost his title by canceling the fight ( TKO ) in the interval 5 to 6 round. Zavec had suffered lacerations on both eyes, also his right eye was completely swollen shut.

On 24 March 2012, he won by unanimous decision against Bethel Ushona from Namibia and received by the Intercontinental Champion title of WBO. However, the title he lost in March, 2013 by Point defeat to Keith Thurman ( 19-0 ) from the USA.
