Jancis Robinson

Jancis Robinson ( born April 22, 1950 in Allerdale, Cumbria ) is a British wine critic.

It is regarded as one of the specialists for grape varieties and wrote the book varietals and their wines, in which over 800 species are described. They began in 1971 to write for the magazine Wine & Spirit, and in 1984 Master of Wine. She is also editor of the Oxford Companion to Wine Encyclopedia.

Together with Robert Parker Jancis Robinson is one of the most famous wine experts worldwide. 2004 caused by a dispute between the two stir. Robinson had the Château Pavie from the 2003 vintage criticized on their site, whereupon Parker put her impartiality into question. Today, the two understand their own words again very good.

Robinson received an honorary doctorate from the Open University, she is a member of the Order of the British Empire.

She writes a weekly column in the Financial Times.

She is married and has three children.
