Jane Adams (actress)

Jane Adams ( born April 1, 1965 in Wheaton, Illinois ) is an American actress. She is known for her role in the film Happiness, and thus created their breakthrough in the independent film sector.

Life

Jane Adams played in their youth a lot of theater, but had no plans to make the acting profession, but competed at the Cornish Institute in Seattle with a major in political science. There, however, she took some acting classes and eventually switched to the Juilliard School in New York.

First, they had, in addition to some roles in TV movies, mostly success on the stage. For their roles in the Broadway play I Hate Hamlet got them shortly after their completion, Outer Critics Circle Award and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award. She was henceforth active for several years in the New York theater scene. Your biggest Broadway success was the role of Sheila Birling in An Inspector 's Call. She got it a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award.

During her theater career Jane Adams often traveled in order to advance her career as an actress in Los Angeles. They first got only small roles in films like Nothing but Trouble ( 1994) and Father of the Bride 2 (1995). She was always known and always got more interesting, though not necessarily larger roles.

Her breakthrough came in 1998 with the film Happiness by Todd Solondz as the depressive Joy Jordan. Then she got more roles such as teacher in Songcatcher (2000 ), and as Claire in relationships and other catastrophes ( 2001).

After her role in 2002 in Nix as Orange County, she disappeared for a while from the film business, but returned in 2004 my back not back to the big screen with a supporting role in Forget.
