Jane Campion

Jane Campion ( born April 30, 1954 in Wellington, New Zealand) is a New Zealand film director.

Life

Her parents were both formed in London at the Old Vic Theatre. Her father, Richard, is a director and her mother, Edith, Actress. Anna, her older sister, also works as a director.

She married to radio producer Colin Englert. In 1994, their daughter Alice Englert, who works as an actress, was born.

Already her first short film An Exercise in Discipline - Peel brought her 1986 first Palme d'Or at the International Film Festival in Cannes one.

You filmed with An Angel at My Table, the autobiography of New Zealand writer Janet Frame, who spent several years in psychiatric institutions. Her biggest success was achieved by the director with The Piano, which earned her first and so far only woman in the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Therefore, this work will be referred to as their main work. In addition, she was nominated for an Oscar as best director and won the trophy for best screenplay.

In 2009 she received an invitation to compete in the 62nd International film festival in Cannes for the film Bright Star. The film is about the love affair between the poet John Keats 23 -year-old and five years younger Fanny Brawne.

2014 Campion was appointed Juryprasidentin the Film Festival of Cannes.

Since the 1980s, lives and works in Sydney Campion.
