Jane Frederick

Jane Frederick ( Jane Wardwell Frederick, born April 7, 1952 in Oakland ) is a former American track and field athlete who was international in the five -and seven- fight successfully.

Frederick was probably the best American fighter more of their time. Overall, they scored 15 national records in the pentathlon and seven heptathlon. It was five times national champion in the pentathlon ( 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976 and 1979 ) and four times in the heptathlon ( 1981, 1983, 1985 and 1986). In addition, she won two national titles in the 100 - meter hurdles (1975 and 1976 ) and a 60 - yards in the hurdles in the Hall (1977).

After Frederick had to settle at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 still with the 21 place in the pentathlon, the student from the University of Colorado at Boulder won at the Summer Universiade in 1975 in Rome. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal she placed seventh. It should be her last at the Olympics, since 1980 the United States boycotted the games, and in 1984 Frederick was unable to start due to injury. In 1977, she finished second at the Summer Universiade in Sofia.

In the 1980s, Frederick was repeatedly successful in major international multi-discipline meetings. Three times she won the all-around meeting Götzis (1981, 1982 and 1985 ) and twice during Décastar in Talence (1984 and 1987). Most recently, she won the bronze medal behind her compatriot Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Larissa Nikitina from the Soviet Union at the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome.

Jane Frederick is 1,81 m tall and weighed 73 kg in their active time. After the end of their active sports career, she was a trainer at the University of Texas at Austin.
