Jane Getz

Jane Getz ( born January 1, 1948) is an American jazz pianist and recording artist.

Getz, who grew up in Los Angeles and San Francisco, was considered a musical prodigy and moved at the age of 9 years, from classical to jazz. At the age of 15, she dropped out of high school and moved to New York City, where she played in a short time with Pony Poindexter. During the next few years she worked with many jazz stars, particularly with Charles Mingus, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Charles Lloyd and Pharoah Sanders, but giggte with Stan Getz ( with whom she is not related) and Jay Clayton. She was involved in Pharoah Sanders first plate as well as on Mingus ' album " Right Now: Live at the Jazz Workshop ".

In 1971 she returned to the jazz scene in the back and moved back to California to work as a studio musician. Under the stage name of Mother Hen she played a country music, but also listen to many pop and rock albums (for example, the Bee Gees, Ringo Starr, Harry Nilsson and John Lennon).
