Janet Craxton

Janet Helen Rosemary Craxton ( born May 17, 1929 in London, † July 18, 1981 ibid ) was an English oboist.

The daughter of composer Harold Craxton studied from 1945 to 1948 at the Royal Academy of Music with Helen Gaskell and thereafter until 1949 at the Conservatoire de Paris with Pierre Bajeux. She was first oboist et al the Hallé Orchestra, the London Mozart Players ( 1952-54 ), the BBC Symphony Orchestra ( 1954-63 ), London Sinfonietta ( 1969-81 ) and at the Royal Opera House ( 1979-81 ).

Since 1958, she taught oboe at the Royal Academy.
