Janet McTeer

Janet McTeer (* August 5, 1961 in Newcastle) is a British actress.

Life

Janet McTeer graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and gave her film debut in 1986 in Half Moon Street alongside Sigourney Weaver and Michael Caine. After that, they played mainly in television series such as the BBC series Portrait of a marriage in which she portrayed the role of writer Vita Sackville -West. For her performance in the Broadway performance of Ibsen's A Doll 's House, she was awarded the Tony Award as " Best Actress in a play " (1997), the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for " Best Actress in a play " (1997 ) and the London Critics Circle Theatre Award for "Best Actress in a Drama " (1996). In 2000 she was nominated for an Oscar as best actress in Tumbleweeds. For this role, she also received the Gotham Independent Film Award for " Best Newcomer ". In 2005, she starred in one of the lead roles in Terry Gilliam's Tideland. 2009 brought her the part of Clementine Churchill in the TV movie Into the Storm an Emmy nomination. In 2012 she was nominated for her role in Albert Nobbs both the Golden Globe and at the Oscars for Best Supporting Actress. In May 2012, she landed a supporting role in David Gordon Green's remake of Dario Argento Suspiria Giallos.
