Jani Lajunen

Jani Lajunen (* June 16, 1990 in Espoo ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since May 2013 in Växjö Lakers Hockey in the Svenska Hockey ligands under contract. His older brother Ville Lajunen is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Jani Lajunen began his career as a hockey player in the youth of the Finnish second division Kiekko -Vantaa, for which he was active until 2006. He then moved to the youth department of the first division club Espoo Blues, for their first team, he made his debut in the SM- liiga in the season 2007/08-. He remained point - and unpunished.

He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the seventh round in 2008 when a total of 201 players from the Nashville Predators. First Lajunen continued playing for the Espoo Blues in the SM- liiga, for which he in the 2008 /09 season in 25 games, two points scorer, including a goal scored. In addition, the links Sagittarius was this season in two games for the Finnish U20 national team in the second-rate Mestis on the ice, in which he scored four points scorer, including two goals.

For the 2011/12 season Lajunen was ordered by the Nashville Predators to North America, where he played for their farm team in Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. On February 19, 2013, was transferred in exchange for Scott Ford on the St. Louis Blues.

After expiry of his NHL entry-level contract in early summer 2013 Lajunen returned to Europe and was obliged Växjö Lakers Hockey of the Svenska Hockey ligands.

Internationally

For Finland Lajunen took at youth level at the U18 World Youth Championship 2008 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2009 and 2010 in part. On Senior level, the striker took his homeland for the first time at the World Championships in 2011 and secured the gold medal with Suomi. This success Lajunen had contributed with two goals and an assist in four games.
