Janine Pietsch

Janine Pietsch (born 30 June 1982 in Berlin ) is a German swimmer. My home club is the SC Delphin Ingolstadt and it currently coaches the youth team of SG Stadtwerke München.

Career

Your first achievements came in 1997/98 at the Junior European Championships in the freestyle discipline. In the following years she also won at the German Short Course Championships a few titles on the distances 50 m and 100 m. Through two World Cup success in 2001, it became clear that the backstroke is on the short stretching her special discipline. However, in the German Short Course Championship 2003 they won first place in the butterfly style and 100m individual medley.

A year later, she qualified with two German championship titles over 50 m and 100 m backstroke for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

In the public eye, they came in May 2005 when she unexpectedly set a new world record in the 50m backstroke at the 117th German Swimming Championships in Berlin. With her personal best of 28.19 seconds she was considered a promising candidate for a medal at the 2005 World Championships in Montreal, where she, however, finished only sixth place in this discipline.
