Jann Wenner

Jann S. Wenner ( born January 7, 1946 in New York City ) is a journalist, publicist and owner of Wenner Media. He was best known as the founder and chief editor of the legendary music magazine Rolling Stone.

After Wenner had completed his studies at the University of California at Berkeley, he founded in 1967 in San Francisco along with music journalist Ralph Gleason, the rock music magazine Rolling Stone. It was in the U.S., the first available national magazine that dealt solely with the subject of rock music, which she quickly became known in the former rock music consumers. In the early years Wenner himself led a number of interviews with former music stars like Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Pete Townshend and Phil Spector. As the end of 1970, Rolling Stone magazine ran into financial difficulties, it was an interview of Wenner with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, which kept the magazine before the end.

During the 1970s, Wenner began to be less and less interested in the new rock music and wrote very few articles of the magazine itself After moving to New York, it also approached more to the mainstream. In the 1980s and '90s it was indeed still long runs, but was no longer as influential as ever.

In addition to his work at Rolling Stone Wenner produced in 1969 Boz Scaggs ' debut album, and in 1985 was involved as an actor in the film Perfect starring John Travolta. In 1986 he was a founder of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 2004 he was honored for his life's work.

Wenner separated in 1995 by his wife, Jane Wenner, on the occasion of his coming- outs. However, Jane Wenner retains to this day the office of Vice President of Wenner Media. The two have three sons. Jann Wenner Since 1995 has a mate, Matt Nye, a fashion designer, with whom he educates along three more children.
