Janne Happonen

Janne Mikael Happonen ( born June 18, 1984 in Kuopio ) is a Finnish ski jumper.

Career

Happonen began in 1992 with the ski jumping. He made his debut on 17 November 2001 in Kuusamo in Ski Jumping Continental Cup, and one week later, on 23 November the same year, in the World Cup while jumping on his home hill in Kuopio, where he was immediately able to gain World Cup points with an eleventh place. Previously, he had already won on 1 February 2001 with the Finnish team the Junior World Championships in Poland Karpacz Szklarska.

He repeated at the Junior World Cup in Schonach in 2002 this success, he also secured also in the singles gold medal. 2003 and 2004, he came Finnish champion.

His first Continental won Happonen on 12 January 2002 in Sapporo. His first podium finish when used in the A- team he won the Summer Grand Prix Jumping in Switzerland Einsiedeln, when he took second place.

In the winter of 2005/ 06, the Finn won several medals in international competitions equal. Since February 13, 2011 Happonen holds the Finnish national record with 240 meters, situated at the ski flying event at Vikersundbakken in Norway.

In the qualification round at the opening weekend of the 2012/13 season in Lillehammer Happonen moved already to the third cruciate ligament injury of his career. The Finn then had to pause the rest of the season. Beginning in July 2013, he completed the first training jumps after his injury. A few weeks later he took at the Finnish summer championships, on September 8, 2013, the gold medal in the individual competition. Also, the first national competition before start of the season in Rovaniemi, Finland won Happonen.
