Janowiec Wielkopolski

Janowiec Wielkopolski ( German Janowitz, Jannowitz 1939-45 ) is a town in Poland in the Kujawsko - Pomerania. It lies on the Welna, a right tributary of the Warta.

History

The first written mention of the village dates from 1295 as Janow Mlyn. In the deed the great Polish Duke Przemysław II allows the knight Wojciech, son of Jan the system of settlement by German law. 1458 Janowiec Wielkopolski received city rights ..

At the Second Partition of Poland, the city came to Prussia in 1793 and 1807 as a result of the Tilsit peace to the Duchy of Warsaw. From the Congress of Vienna in 1815 to the Greater Poland Uprising 1918/19, Janowitz was then again to Prussia.

During the Second World War 1939-45 Janowiec was occupied by the German Wehrmacht. The occupation ended in January 1945. Subsequently, the city of the People's Republic of Poland was.
