Janus Robberts

Janus Robberts (actually Jan Mattheus Robberts; * 30 June 1972 in Louis Trichardt ) is a former South African shot putter, who was also successful as a discus thrower.

1998 in Annecy, he became Vice Junior World Champion.

In 1999, he retired at the World Athletics Championships in Seville in qualifying and won silver at the All-Africa Games in Johannesburg. At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, he was seventh in the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton eleventh.

In 2002 he took at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester silver in the shot put and finished seventh in the discus throw. In the Africa Championships in Radès he won both disciplines. The following year, he failed in the World Cup 2003 in Paris / Saint- Denis in the preliminary round. In 2004 he defended at the African Championships in Brazzaville his title in the shot put, but came at the Olympic Games in Athens not go beyond the first round. At the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki in qualifying he managed not a valid test.

In 2006 he won at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and won silver at the African Championships in Bambous. 2008, a bronze medal at the African Championships followed in Addis Ababa.
